BMA & five national water companies pioneer shared asset investment model

BMA once again shortlisted for an IAM Asset Management Excellence Award, this time recognising our digital innovations in the water and wastewater sector.

BMA is once again shortlisted for an IAM Asset Management Excellence Award, this time recognising our digital innovations in the water and wastewater sector.

We are proud to have achieved a world-first breakthrough by collaborating with five national water companies – Anglian Water, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water and Southern Water - serving 35 million customers in the UK. By teaming up and embracing digital innovation, UK utilities can integrate their asset systems and understand the potential for shared capacity and joint investments.

These five water companies now have a shared evidence-based 25-year asset management plan that can achieve a forecasted overall reduction in total expenditure of up to 15%. This first phase is being extended to a National Bioresources model that will enable an even more integrated plan and provide an ongoing collaborative solution delivering a truly digital, adaptive planning capability for the sector and supporting a whole systems approach to national long-term delivery planning.

“ The Decisio Decision platform by BMA provides important insights into bioresources market opportunities. By bringing all the companies’ information together into one place and systemising it, rather than looking at 5 different individual entities, but as a common network, has quickly enabled us to look at areas where there are opportunities and areas where there are risks or disbenefits ”
